DIY Four Poster Bed for Under £150
Have you always dreamed of having a luxurious four-poster bed, but thought it was out of reach due to limited budget and space?
Well, I'm here to share how I achieved the look of a stunning four-poster bed without breaking the bank or sacrificing precious room space!
Like many, I've always admired the elegant and romantic appeal of four-poster beds, so when I moved into my forever home I was determined to get one in somehow. However, I faced three main challenges: limited space, low ceiling height, and a tight budget.
But where there's a will, there's a way! I put my interior designer hat on and conjured up a creative DIY solution that ticks all three boxes. And the best part? It only cost me just over £100!
Here is how I achieved a Four Poster Bed look for £100:
Buy some curtains
I started by purchasing four £14 voile curtains from La Redoute. Here are the ones I used, but any translucent curtain would do the job. These lightweight, sheer curtains act as the ‘posters’ and are perfect for creating the desired effect without overwhelming the space.
2. Take a trip to B&Q
Next, I bought four curtain rail ceiling tracks from B&Q. These are the ones I used, in the 2000mm size at only £10 each! The key here was using a corner join (which I also purchased at B&Q) to connect these tracks together at the corners to create a square frame above the bed.
3. Hang it up.. and that’s it!
I hung the voile curtains at each corner of the bed using the ceiling tracks. This setup mimics the structure of a traditional four-poster bed without the need for heavy wooden posts.
The result? A beautiful, airy four-poster bed that doesn't dominate the room, completed for £100. The translucent curtains allow light to filter through, keeping the small space feeling bright and open while still achieving that serene, hotel-like atmosphere we all crave in our bedrooms.
This DIY project proves that with a little creativity, you can achieve high-end looks on a budget. So don't let space or financial constraints hold you back from creating the bedroom of your dreams!
